Total N. American rail traffic rebounded slightly last week to 689k cars, up from 682k the prior week. This is as expected and we should further expect to see the number bounced around these level for at least the next 3-4 weeks. Then we should see some extreme end of year volatility before resuming next year. Canadian and Mexican traffic held steady meaning the gains week over week came principally in the US.
As said before, as long as we do not see a downtrend begin, the swings in the numbers are to be expected and this bodes positive form US GDP going forward.
